Sydney Computer Repair
& Data Recovery
Computer repair for Sydney business and home: on-site, drop-in or remote, often fixed the same day. Dead laptops, drives that won't mount, files you thought were gone. Plus the Wi-Fi, cloud, backup and cameras around them, from someone who answers when you call.
Local Sydney IT · real people · no lock-in
Everything your business needs to just work.
One local team for the lot, pick what you need, leave the rest.
What we actually get called about.
Windows and Mac, laptops and desktops. Most weeks it's one of these.
Won't start, won't stay on
- No power, no boot. Black screen, a light and nothing else, or Windows looping on repair.
- Blue screens and random restarts. Usually memory, storage or a driver, and worth finding before it eats your files.
- Overheating and loud fans. Machines that throttle to a crawl or shut themselves down mid-job.
- Liquid damage. Some boards come back and some don't. We'll tell you which before you spend anything.
Slow, broken or full
- Slow machines. An SSD and a clean-up beat a new computer most of the time.
- Cracked screens, dead batteries, worn keyboards. We quote the part before we order it, then fit it properly.
- Virus and malware clean-ups. We clear it out, then close the hole it came through.
- Out of space, out of date. Storage upgrades, memory upgrades and clean Windows or macOS reinstalls with your data carried across.
The files matter more than the machine.
You can replace the laptop. You can't replace ten years of photos, or the only copy of the accounts. We look at the drive first and tell you what we think we can get off it.
What we recover from
- Drives that won't mount. Hard drives and SSDs the computer no longer sees.
- Deleted or overwritten files. Including the folder someone emptied out of the recycle bin last week.
- Dead laptops and desktops. The machine is finished, the data usually isn't.
- Failed NAS and RAID volumes. Multi-disk sets that dropped a member and won't rebuild.
- Phones, cameras and SD cards. Corrupted cards and cards that ask to be formatted.
- Ransomware-hit machines. We isolate the machine first, then work out what's recoverable from backups and shadow copies.
How a recovery runs
- Step one
- Stop using the drive. Every extra write reduces what's left to find.
- Assessment
- We look at the drive and tell you what appears recoverable.
- Quote
- A price before we start, same as any other job here.
- Handover
- Recovered data back to you on your own drive, and a straight answer about what didn't come back.
- Limits
- Physically damaged platters need a clean-room. We say so rather than open it and make it worse.
The kind of IT help you actually wanted.

On-site computer repair, right across town.
Hills and North-West to Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Parramatta and the CBD. Sydney IT is the local arm of Alien IT Solutions, the same hands-on team, focused on computer repair and data recovery for Sydney businesses and homes. Need ongoing managed IT support instead? That's handled by our sister company, Alien IT.
Where we go most
- Computer repair, Sydney CBD. Offices, studios and shopfronts in the city and Surry Hills, Pyrmont and Ultimo around it.
- Computer repair, North Sydney. North Sydney, Crows Nest, St Leonards and the lower North Shore.
- Hills & North-West. Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Norwest and out through Rouse Hill.
- Inner West and Eastern Suburbs. From Newtown and Marrickville across to Bondi Junction and Randwick.
- Parramatta and the west. Parramatta, Rydalmere and the business parks nearby.
- Northern Beaches. Manly through to Dee Why and Brookvale.
Before you drop it in
- Stop using it if data is the worry. A drive that's failing loses more every time it spins up. Shut it down and call.
- Bring the charger. A lot of "won't turn on" jobs start with testing the power.
- Write down the error. The exact wording, or a photo of the screen, saves us chasing it.
- Know your passwords if you can. The login for the machine, and the Microsoft or Apple account on it.
- Don't reinstall first. A well-meant Windows reset is the fastest way to overwrite the files you wanted back.
The things people ask before they call.
Do you come to us, or do we bring the computer in?
Whichever suits. We come to you on-site anywhere across Sydney, you can drop the machine in to us, or we can work on it remotely. A lot of faults are fixed remotely without anyone moving, and we'll tell you which way is quickest before anything starts.
How fast can a computer repair be done?
Often the same day. Remote fixes are usually quicker again. Parts-dependent jobs like a screen or a battery take as long as the part takes to arrive, and we tell you that up front rather than after the fact.
What does a computer repair cost?
We look at the problem first, then give you a clear plan and a price before anything happens. No surprise invoices and no lock-in.
Can you get data off a drive that won't start?
Often, yes. Deleted files, a dead laptop, a corrupted partition, a drive that is no longer detected, a failed NAS or RAID volume, a phone or camera card: all of it is worth a look. We assess the drive first, tell you what looks recoverable, and quote before we start. If it needs a clean-room, we say so instead of making it worse.
Do you fix Macs as well as Windows?
Both. MacBooks, iMacs, Windows laptops and desktops, and the mixed setups most small offices actually run.
Do you fix home computers or just business?
Both. Most of our work is small business, but the same skills fix a home laptop that won't start or a family Wi-Fi that keeps dropping.
Do you offer ongoing managed IT?
That's handled by our sister company, Alien IT Solutions. Sydney IT focuses on computer repair, data recovery and on-site fixes.
Where this comes from
The official sources behind how we work, so you can check any of it yourself rather than take our word for it:
- Australian Cyber Security Centre, the national source of cyber security guidance for Australian businesses.
- Essential Eight, the Australian Signals Directorate baseline behind the security work we do.
- Microsoft Support and Apple Support, the vendor documentation behind Windows and Mac repairs.
- Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, the free service for phone and internet complaints a provider will not resolve.
- ACCC: consumer rights and guarantees, which set out what you are entitled to when a product or a repair goes wrong.
